We used cages (20mm mesh size) to exclude avian pollinators from inflorescences, bags (1mm mesh size) to exclude all pollinators, hand-pollination with out-cross-pollen on bagged inflorescences and hand-pollination with self-pollen on bagged inflorescences. We assessed the proportion of fertile seeds produced under each treatment and also the seed mass and germination rates.
