A 0.2 m*m van Veen grab was used for sampling. A single grab was taken at each of the five stations. The samples were sieved over 0.63 mm mesh size and fixed in 4% buffered formaldehyde. After sorting, the organisms were preserved in 70% alcohol. Biomass was determined as ash-free dry weight (AFDW) per m*m. Samples were dried for 24h at 85 deg C and burned for 6h at 485 deg C. Biomass data for some taxonomical groups were not available for the years 1989 and 1990. These samples were treated different as these assessments are part of earlier work.
