<title>vegetation plots and soil parameters</title>
<para>Randoming stratified sampling based on land use types are applied. Agrosystems and silvopastoral systems are the most important land use types in both districts. The plot size is 2500 m&#178; in agrosystems and 1000 m&#178; in silvopastoral systems. 51 plots were prospected at Simiri and 35 plots at Tamou. The measurement of surface crust rate was realize in each plot. For soil physico-chemical parameters, soil samples were taken into the plots and analysis at laboratory. Soil samples were air-dried and sieved through a 2 mm mesh sieve. Particle size analysis using the Robinson pipette method was carried out to separate clay, silt and sand. The organic carbon was quantified by the Walkley and Black method, while total phosphorus and total nitrogen were determined with Kjeldahl method. Available phosphorus was assessed by Bray-I procedure. Soil pH was determined in soil-water ratio of 1:2.5 using a glass electrode pH meter. Cation Exchange Capacity and exchangeable cations were determined by silver-thiourea (AgTU) method. Vegetation state was characterize by floristic and dendrometric measurement (density, cover and height).</para>
