Pleistocene and Holocene Caninae Hypercarnivory Trait Data

A dataset of fossil Caninae (Canidae, Carnivora) tooth trait data for the Quaternary (Pleistocene and Holocene) of Europe. This dataset includes taxonomic information, fossil site, geological age, and length, width, and height of the lower first molar (m1). With these data, the degree of carnivory and the body size of each species can be calculated. Species data is averaged over multiple fossil occurrences. Data taken from multiple sources, but primarily from the literature. Additional North American Canidae data taken from Balisi & Van Valkenburgh, 2020. Communications Biology to use as a comparison with the collected European data.
