Avian functional diversity and seed-dispersal interactions in a recovery gradient, Ecuadorian Chocó

This dataset includes the metadata of the PhD project "Drivers of avian functional diversity and seed-dispersal interactions in recovering tropical forests". This project is part of the DFG Reassembly Research Unit, a German-Ecuadorian research unit that aims to study the recovery of a tropical forest ecosystem through the reassembly of the network among its components (https://www.reassembly.de/). Data will be collected in the Chocó tropical rainforest of Ecuador. The first chapter will study functional diversity, community composition, and functional redundancy of tropical bird assemblages along a forest recovery gradient. The second chapter will explore the role of connectivity and forest structure in explaining deviations between predicted and observed seed-dispersal interaction recovery trajectories. The third experimental chapter will test if artificial bird perches increase the taxonomic and functional diversity of seed dispersers and seed rain.
