Lake Constance bird data set (1980 to 2002)

taken from Lemoine et al. 2007. Cons Biol. "The Lake Constance bird atlas data were collected in 1980–1981, in 1990–1992, and in 2000–2002 by the international working group Ornithologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bodensee. The bird atlas is one of the fewEuropean data sets that offers standardized abundance data for all regionally coexisting bird species with a relatively high spatial resolution and on a relatively large spatial scale (Schuster et al. 1983; Bauer & Heine 1992; Bauer et al. 2005). The atlas consists of 303 grid squares of 2 × 2 km and covers 1212 km2 of German, Austrian, and Swiss territory (Schuster et al. 1983; Bauer & Heine 1992; Bauer et al. 2005). The Lake Constance region consists of forest, grassland, arable land, orchards, fruit plantations, reed areas, lakes, and settlements in a small-scale mosaic. Elevation ranges from 396 m (Lake Constance) to 980 m above sea level (foothill of the Alps). The atlas data were collected with the same methodology for all three census periods."
